This blog is in need of a big update!!
We have been very busy recently - we have been making the most of the British summer. That has meant alot of flying and lots of opportunities for photos and videos.
You may have noticed the portfolio on Horizon AP has been updated with a selection of the latest photos and videos.
We have been shooting mostly buildings within the local area. A particualr highlight for me was Blauwearie - an abandoned (now unfortunately ruined) Farm House on Old Bewick Moor. It has crags nearby and old out houses, we were very lucky with the weather when we went up there - crystal clear skies - the only drawback was landscape shots suffered from the haze affect.
Another afternoon was spent taking photo's of a local holiday cottage by the Old Bewick Sawmill - we are very pleased with these shots - they are a great example of showing the beautiful surroundings from a perspective not usually seen.
We have some more projects lined up - sports and equestrian events. We are going to put our video production skills to the test!
Another development since the last post is the acquisition of some new equipment. Jack had been researching Multirotor Craft for a while and we decided to try and make our own - using Jack's own frame design and some modular flight controllers (we went with the HoverFly chipset - plug and play - so no soldering chip sets!).
After a month or so of testing and tweaking it is now working great with a custom built camera gimbal that allows for full 360 - 3 axis control.
Look out for our first demo reel from the drone this coming weekend.
That brings us upto date with Horizon AP's ongoings - if you have a project or property that could benefit from some Aerial Photo's - why not get in touch? We are more than happy to talk through what we can help you to achieve.
I look forward to speaking to you soon!
Cheers,
Paddy

Camera gymbal test
Been working on a customized camera gymbal and mount over the last few days, its designed to accomodate a Canon 5D Mk2 and has gyro stabilisation. It also includes a video transmitter and camera remote control unit. See some pics and video below, gyro stabilisation here we come! The basic principle is working, just needs a bit more refining for small movements and centre points.

A little about us...
Horizon AP was born when myself and a friend realised that the technology was now available to allow us to provide a much higher quality and more bespoke service. We have an extensive background in the world of RC Helicopters, and more recently fully autonomous small unmanned aerial vehicle (SUAV) systems. Today, with this knowledge, and a passion for technology and photography, we are commited to producing a fascinating aerial perspective, at a fantastic price. We can show off your home or business, survey your archaelogical site or film your event to name just some applications. We can provide a perspective and bespoke quality that rivals anything you have ever seen before.
What you will see here is some of our newer ideas, designs and the latest photos and video from our tests as we work towards the best system possible...
